back in dc. i'm going to be late for work. made record time from northampton (7 hours) but couldn't fall asleep until 3 or 4.
pat's services were .. sad, obviously, but more in the bittersweet category - it was amazing to see everyone come together like that, at a moment's notice. and despite the fact that i am an utter failure at keeping in touch with everyone, it was like no time at all had passed.
i miss so much about that place.
i hate that i didn't talk to him for the past 2 years, or anyone else from tallahassee. i hate that max couldn't even call me when it happened because he had a phone number i got rid of in 2004. ugh. i am reinstating facebook. it's the only way.

[16 Oct 2006|11:57am] |
|
the coffee shop that i like to study at - the only one in arlington - has been playing the fiery furnaces for about an hour straight. i cannot concentrate. they are so bad they make my eyes water. i am going to fail my midterm and sue the pants off of eleanor friedberger for sucking so bad she made me fail out of law school.

i went swimming with lena, chessy, liv and some other people today. lena jumped into the connecticut river, but it was freezing so she was the only one who did it. (chessy told her not to worry and that she was a lifeguard, but that was a lie).
then we came back and made dinner on our $10 grill.
then the bravery showed up, drank our beer and knocked the grill over.
not kidding

| mountaineering |
[16 Jan 2006|03:11pm] |
yesterday i climbed this mountain

when we went over the top, we were technically in azerbaijan, since the mountain range makes up part of georgia's southeastern border. there are a number of cave-houses and churches on its east side. it was pretty amazing, but what is more amazing is that none of us died, since the mountain was windier than our guide ever remembered it being, not to mention that the ground was all frozen and snowy.
--
last night my host family had a dinner party, and rachel started laughing to herself for so long that she finally had to excuse herself from the table. she later explained that this was because one of our host father's friends reminded her of mole man from the simpsons.

I'm glad to hear you have enjoyed 'Funky Side of Life' - although I'm not sure it is the kind of music the well brought up young ladies of MA ought to be listening to !
Seriously this was released back in 1993 - I currently teach guitar and work as a producer with a small indie label in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire in the UK.
This makes a personal visit to Western Mass difficult in the short term !
Here's my new band's website :

Good luck !

Dear Mr Tittley,
My friends and I came across your CD "The Funky Side of Life" today in the bowels of our college radio station, and after listening to it seven times in a row, we have found that we are addicted to the funky side of life. Unfortunately, this means that we have dropped all our classes, sold all our belongings, and invested all our funds in go-go boots and fancy hats. We have never been addicted to anything before, and as we are young and impressionable ladies in our late teens and early twenties, we feel that you are entirely to blame for this.
Our collective addiction to funkiness has prevented us from seeking medical help, and we feel that the only way we can be thoroughly detoxed is for you to fly here to Massachusetts and take a walk with us... you know, on the funky side of town. We live in Western Mass, so we might have to make a day trip of it. But I'm sure that you understand the importance of this, and we have no doubt that you will assume full responsibility for your actions.
We eagerly await your response.
Meg, Mira, and Tanya
